  1. Ridiculous policies and they make you wait forever to offer little to no help. Even management doesn’t have access to proper account information and customers have to wait while they call around to get appropriate info. After several ridiculous issues over the years, it is now time for me to look elsewhere for my banking needs.

  2. I live on the same block and have been going to this branch to do cash advance on my foreign credit. This time there was only one teller(1pm on Wed 8/20/2015) who was EXTREMELY rude and disrespectful when I asked for a 100USD cash advance. She told me that they don’t do cash advance for non-Satander cards which was ridiculous cause I have done it at that exact branch 3 times! Instead of checking with her supervisor, she blatantly looked at me from the side of her eyes and in a very condescending tone said she doesn’t know what I am talking about when I told her I have performed that transaction here before. And then she accused me of lying!!! I was in utter shock! Her customer service was disgusting. I just walked over to Bank of America and they helped me with no problem.

  3. I have been a customer at Sovereign Bank, Littleton Rd. Branch in Parsippany for about 20 years, long before they became Santander. I have NEVER met more courteous, helpful staff. they are efficient and organized. The wait is not long IN COMPARISON to OTHER banks. I know every one by name and they know me and my needs. They have offered me and I have taken 7rl investments since the interest rate is low and have made sure I have the best rates available on any product. My daughter and husband also bank here. Congratulations Rhona on your fine Bank.

  4. My husband and I maintain a business account at the Webster Branch. We’ve looked at the other raters, and find it hard to believe it’s the same bank. Bank manager Lauren and her staff are absolutely first rate. They are knowledgeable, accommodating, and always friendly. Lauren saw us through my husband’s serious illness. You can’t find a better bank or banker.

  5. I have had accounts with this institution since they were Sovereign Bank. At that point in time it was a great branch…friendly, professional staff that moved quickly to process your transaction while still making you feel like they valued you.

Now, this bank (with their crazy fees) branch is an absolute joke. I wait (on a consistent basis) at least 5 min to be acknowledged at the drive thru while there’s ONE customer in the bank. Usually, it’s more to the tune of a total of 15 min in the drive thru & they’ll take every customer in the lobby first, even those that come in after you’ve been in line. They ignore that drive-up like it doesn’t exist.

In addition to that, the branch is seriously understaffed. This branch is across the street from a Hospital, with a Farmer’s Mkt behind it & sits at a busy intersection….and they routinely schedule only one, yes ONE, teller. Seriously?!?! When I called the corporate 1-800 number to complain, I received a return call from the 17th St branch manager who actually attempted to chastise me for my complaint! He insisted I call the branch first & how dare I call the 1-800 number. Again, SERIOUSLY!?!?!

This bank, and in particular, this branch are ridiculous. In the past 2 weeks, I have moved all my accounts to a local credit union. I still have a checking account there because I just bought new checks & I’d like to use them up. Lol. It says something serious about customer service (or lack thereof) when I prefer to drive 10 minutes to a new bank, rather than use a branch I can walk to in 2 minutes. Long story short-they stink & their rates are barely competitive.

  6. This is my first review i have ever made before i was treated so bad i had to write this one.there was a guy buy the name of jiang there told me to call him kenny i was like ok sure he was helping me with an issue about my account when he saw my account on his computer he started to laugh don’t understand why after that he was very rude and disrespectful said some stuff in chinese to himself as he laughed then he made a rude comment about what do i do for a living and started saying stuff about i shouldnt be spending money if i dont have it. there was more but i belive i made my point. i will be reporting this store and him to anyone that i know and i will never use this bank again he should not be working there if i was to go to this place again if i see him i tell his boss to please tell him to leave the area do not want to see his face been with this company since sovereign bank that was in boston was not there anymore i came there.

I hope something is done about this or i will report this to higher ups to have this handled.

  7. I went to this branch to add my husband to my money mkt account. The day next when we checked our accounts we noticed she added my husband to my mma account AND opened an individual one under his name WITHOUT our permission. Shady shady She needs to be fired. She has a picture of someone in the army on her desk Do not go to her!!! In fact dont even go to that branch!

  8. I sincerely enjoy going to the bank. There are two ladies there that know me by name and always greet me with a kind and personalized greeting. They always exceed my expectations for customer service. They noticed that I was in the wrong account for my lifestyle and made suggestions for a better fit. Upon doing so, the manager (very kind) introduced himself and promptly made an appointment with me. I will never go to another bank!

  9. horrible customer service my wife went there the other day Natasha was rude to her.. didn’t recognizer and neither did the other woman that was working with her. my wife usually loves the staff there they are always nice and recognize her right away. she always has three dogs with her and sometimes would go there with her motorcycle now that her health is slowly detiorating she is selfconsious and thinks the girls don’t like her cause she is different now We have had acts there for ten plus yrs and they know her or atleast I thought very well Natasha needed a liscence and cc to cash a check when my wife gave her it shes like no store credit cards has to have a visa logo so she is trying to go through catds and Natasha yells through the drivethrough is that a masshealth card??? she said yes but it doesn’t have the logo she said that’s fine don’t need it. she cashed It finally and my wife came home in tears. Now that she cant drive anymore my daughter took her today to the bank and I believe the tellers name was rabecca or racheal long blonde hair my daughter says oh boy mom this woman is so mean..my wife says no way I love her. she said you have the wrong date I cant cash it. I said ok give it back I can fix it. she said no I cant let you do that. so my wife so ok I will have to sign a different one then my husband always gives me a couple incase I go out on an outing. so my wife starts signing and the teller says I cant take that u r writing them out. I write those checks for her !!! she is disabled and can barely sign her name anymore so she was taking too long for the teller. The teller refused to cash it all together. My daughter took her to another bank and they had no issues. How can Santander have so many uncompassionate people on there pay roll!!!!

  10. I’ve been in this branch 6-7 times for small problems and was always treated great esp. by the branch manager “Tiki” – he is down-to-earth, respectful and always willing to help out if he can. I can’t say enough about this branch. Re: the tellers, I never had an issue either – friendly and fairly fast.

  11. I have been banking here for years and tried to deposit a check made out to me and they refused to deposit it because I am a beneficiary by my mother with her name on the check.

I have been making deposits with the same wording on the check for a year and all of a sudden they refuse to deposit it. I called the Insurance company and they can’t believe that I would be given a hard time about it given it’s been a year already!!! I am going to find another bank!

  12. I see such low ratings and want to add my positive experience.

I am a business customer of Santander and have had very good experience with the bank particularly with the personnel in my branch.

When I arrived to investigate opening an account, the asst mgr treated invited me back like a potential customer. She took the time to find out who I was and what I needed. Other banks handed me a form and expected me to sell myself on their bank.

The proactive customer oriented behavior of the bank continued through this day. When the branch manager heard of a loan program I might find useful, she approached me. As I grew and wanted to refinance debt or increase my line of credit, I could count on the bank personnel to go to bat for me and my business.

I’ve been well taken care of as have the friends and employees I’ve referred to them.

  13. I am writing this review for my brother who is a quadraplegic who was being taken advantage of by several people. This bank cared enough to flag his accounts and watch the activity. They forced closed his account to help prevent any further theft. They looked out for his best interest. However, when these people moved his accounts to another bank, they were able to freely continue scamming him. I can’t thank Santander Bank enough for going that extra mile. Banking here is like it was going to doctors 50 years ago when they made house calls. Their customer service makes you feel like you are part of a family. I find them to be very personable. I never have to wait long to speak with anyone. I would highly recommend this bank!

  14. I’m only giving them a one star because zero is not an option. The Scotch Plains Branch drive up has been lacking since it was Sovereign. I was excited it was switching to Santander in hopes it would be a better banking experience, no improvement! Plan on sitting there at least 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledges your presence!

  15. I have dealt with banks all over the world. This bank by far is the worst, most unorganized bank I have every had to deal with. They are arrogant and look for ways to complicate the simplest transaction.

They ask you for information that is irrelevant to the transaction, waste your time to at the end of the visit they tell you, you cant process the transaction. I hope someone files a class action suit against them.

They would not take our mortgage payment for 6 months. I emailed them and called them 3 times a month. They said it is a computer issue and would not affect our credit. At the end of 2 years, of them miscalculating payments, over charging us, threatening and harassing us, our credit was negatively affected and we had to pay higher rates because of their incompetence.

    STAY AWAY FROM THIS BANK.

  17. I have tried utilizing this bank branch due to its central location in Waltham. But both in person and on the phone, the customer service has been deplorable. Not able to answer my questions, rushing me out, inconsiderate, and still waiting back from a phone question….been over two weeks. If you have to deal with Santander, the staff at the Dedham office on Washington Street have been helpful and polite and enjoyable to deal with.

  18. THIS IS THE WORST BRANCH I HAVE EVER USED. THE “LOAN OFFICER” FOR MY HOME EQUITY LOAN WAS INCOMPETENT AND DISORGANIZED. I HAD TO GO TO NEW JERSEY TO CLOSE ON IT WHERE THEY WERE PROFESSIONAL, PREPARED AND KNOWLEDGEABLE.

THE WAIT TIME FOR A TELLER IS ENDLESS EVEN WHEN THE BANK IS EMPTY. THEY LOST ONE OF MY CHECKS DEPOSITED INTO THE ATM AND WERE NASTY ABOUT RECTIFYING.

    HORRIBLE.

  19. WORST BANK EVER!!!!!! TO START OF THEY OPENED MY ACCOUNT MONTHS AGO THIS YEAR AND SCREWED UP MY ACCOUNT BY 1 NUMBER SHORT OF AN ACTUAL ACCOUNT?????? HOW PROFESSIONAL IS THIS TO START OF WITH? THIS PROLONGED ANOTHER MONTH BEFORE I CAN RECEIVE ANY OF MY SOCIAL SECURITY FUNDS WHICH LEFT ME HOMELESS!!! ON THE STREETS!!! BECAUSE I COULD NOT PAY MY RENT, THANKS GUYS! SO THEY OFFERED ME TO HAVE AN OVER DRAFT APPLIED WHICH THEY HAD THE BALLS TO CHARGE ME FOR THANKS AGAIN GUYS!! TODAY NOW THE FIRST OF THE MOTH 08/01/14 THEY HAD EVEN BIGGER BALLS! THEY CANCELED MY ACCOUNT BECAUSE OF THE OVER DRAFTS THEY OFFERED AND WHICH THEY STARTED BECAUSE THEY SCREWED UP IN THE BEGINNING, AGAIN NOW HOMELESS! STAY AWAY FROM ALL SANTANDER BANKS ESPECIALLY THE ONE ON 86 STREET AND 18 AVE BROOKLYN, NY THEY WILL BE HEARING FROM MY LAWYERS!!

  20. I have been with this bank for over 10+ years and only stay because of my direct deposits which I don’t want to go through changing. They have the worst customer service you can ever receive and they ripped me off with an annuity that their financial advisor, Wolfgang Hein put me in. I have lost so much money in that investment (annuity).

If you can, steer clear of Santander and their financial advisors, in particular, Wolfgang Hein.

  21. Too many problems , too many banks to chose from!

So I am going to close my accounts at Sovereign.

Very bad experience on the phone with rude agent, very bad experience at a branch on 35 st with equally rude agent. This bank knows only one thing: to take your money any which way .

  22. Within the past three months the ATMs at Sovereign have eaten my ATM card, requiring me to reapply for one (they just don’t send you a copy or retrieve the eaten card. Worst yet you must enter your entire social security number into their phone bank to contact customer service for any reason, even branch locations. Cell phone transmissions can be easily intercepted and tone designators (both available at Radio Shack for short money) can read your SS number. Callous, rude, miserable company.

  23. I was there twice this month…and will NEVER go there again..the teller was so rude…no good morning no thank-you..never smiled she needs to look for a new job….maybe looking at walls or dirt she wants nothing to do with people…..

  24. Worst Bank Ever. People treat you like a criminal. No personality, no personal services, teller kept repeating”Bank policy is ” made me deposit a cashiers check drawn on sovereign bank into my sovereign bank account when I made the check and the only issue was that I spelt the payee’s first name off by one letter. Only wanted to get a new check with the correct spelling. Did not care about my urgency and mt business depended on getting this money out todsay. worst Bank ever!!!

  25. I was impressed with the new manager Miss Burke. Not only was she extremely nice, she was very knowledgable and willing to help resolve my issue. Indeed a breath of fresh air.

  26. I’ve been a Sovereign Bank customer for 13 years throughout various mergers and never had any major problems until I made the mistake of opening an account in the NY City Hall branch. Two months ago I got a vague letter saying that one of my accounts was flagged for investigation by USA Patriot Act and would be closed unless I spoke with someone asap. The letter did not specify which account it was (I have 3), and I wanted to make sure that it wasn’t some scam letter. After several frustrating phone calls where nobody knew what was going on, I figured that the letter on the address is probably where I should go – the City Hall branch where I had opened a savings account without any problems one year ago.

The rep there spoke to a mysterious manager behind closed doors. He emerged and said it was a very serious matter but couldn’t give me any more information. He also admitted that it was their fault that the account was opened incorrectly a year ago without collecting all information, but couldn’t give me any more details and said I had to undergo a very lengthy interview to verify it. Listen, I’m just a poor artist who pays my taxes quarterly and don’t have a record with the law, so I was a little stunned by the severity of it all. I decided it would just be easier to close the offending account and open a new one.

Unfortunately after my long subway ride home I realized that this idiot closed the WRONG ACCOUNT, and the flagged account was still at risk. Fed up with City Hall’s incapabilities, I went to the Newkirk branch in Brooklyn, where the rep there said “Oh, all you were missing was your employer information” and fixed the account status. I couldn’t believe it had been that simple, and he had to reassure me several times that the account was now verified. But spoke too soon! Two months later I got a check in the mail with the contents of that particular savings account. The account also doesn’t exist anymore on my online banking. No warning, no letter of explanation. It appears that they’ve closed the account anyway.

Can you imagine my fury as I write this? Their mistake, and all of my attempts to resolve it still resulted in the account being closed. USA Patriot Act my ass – Sovereign employees simply have no knowledge of whatever vague protocol they run with. Could you trust your money with bankers who don’t know what they’re doing?? I can’t! So after 13 years I am leaving this sorry excuse of a bank.

  27. I opened an account with this bank because that is the bank the company I was employed with did their banking. I have had to request checks twice and to date have still not received any (about 6-8 weeks now). Today I went to withdraw money which my new employer has direct deposited only to find that my pin number is now not working. When I called the bank they said that they would send a new pin and it would take 7-10 days. Now I have NO checks and NO debit card leaving me no way to withdraw my money. Also, the directions they sent in the mail for online banking doesn’t work and I have been unable to access my account on line. Horrible, horrible bank. As soon as I have a way to withdraw my money I will be closing my accounts. Have only had my account for 608 weeks and it has been the owrst experience ever! Never, ever bank with these people!

  28. Absolutely horrible service. The person I dealt with had an attitude and knew little about his job.Do yourself a favor and NEVER EVER open an account of any sort with ANY Sovereign Bank. Their customer service is pathetic and knowledge about their duties nonexistent. I would give them a negative star rating if possible.

  29. Overall the service is poor. Employee service did not show courtesy in calling back. Expericneced not having enough support staff to attend the customers on week ends

  30. Have been with Sovereign for the last 10 years and several mergers. Being unfamiliar with this particular branch, my boyfriend opened an account with them so I could assist him with his account. This was the worst mistake ever. The representative sent his card to the wrong address up the street and it was lost. Someone ordered checks from the account and it wasn’t him nor I, and no one knows who or how they were ordered them, or where they are. Then to replace the bank cards they charged two $10.00 Fed Ex fees. Was it our fault the lady transposed his mailing address so he didn’t get them in the first place? The bank they sent them to the Millersville Branch and it still took 5 days for them to get it. (You could ride your bike faster.) Guess what, we only got one card. Ohh… and better yet, they charged a 35.00 overdraft fee for their own errors. Well, they are the ones who messed it up, so why are they charging us a fee? The account was opened on 1/18/13 – today’s date is 2/20/13. The errors were caught as soon as they happened… I wanted to close the account but the kind lady at MU, Judy, said this would be a fee too, if it occurred prior to 90 days. So, yes…. as the header says it’s better to stuff your funds in your mattress than to deal with this branch.

  32. If I could give this branch a negative rating I would. The people here always act as though you are bothering them. They never want to give you any customer service. Depending on the teller will depend on the answer you get to your question it may be a different answer depending on the day. You will get friendlier customer service from the ATM.

  33. TO ALL PEOPLE EVEN IF YOU ARE A SOV BANK CUST THIS BANK IS AWFUL FOR EXAMPLE IF YOU HAVE A BIG ACCOUNT HERE AN LETS SAY YOU GO AN PARK IN THERE PARKING LOT YOU GO IN DO YOUR BANKING THINGS AN LETS JUST SAY YOU WANNA GO ACROSS THE STREET AN SEND A VITAL EXPRESS MAIL PACKAGE ,WHEN YOU COME BACK TO YOUR CAR IT WILL BE GONE THE MANAGER NAMED MILDRED HAS HIRED THUS LOW CLASS PEOPLE TO GET YOU TOWED WHEN YOU ARRIVE BACK TO YOUR CAR SOME THUGGISH FAT GUY WILL SAY WE CAN GET YOUR CAR BACK AN DEMAND 200 IN CASH THE NAME OF THE COMPANY TOWING IS CUSTOM WRECKERS BEWARE TO ALL TAKE YOUR BANKING ELSEWHERE THE MANAGER IS GETTIN A CUT OF THE PIE I BET MY LIFE. BEWARE

  34. i have had NOTHING but problems with this bank since the day i opened accounts with them. i left bank of america because of their everything fees, but i almost immediately regretted it. the tellers are all rude and slow, the computers are constatly “down”, and they screwed up replacing my worn debit/atm card THREE TIMES. paying fees for far superior service is DEFINITELY the better option. not to mention sovereign is so far behind the times im surprised they dont use a hammer and chisel…

  36. If there is a way to select a (-)star this branch really deserve it. End of October I opened a checking account (because it is close to my job). I was attended by Maura Alexander who was very pleasant and effective doing her job (I was very happy at that time thinking that was the best bank ever) 2 weeks after I had to come back to the branch as I never received in the mail my ATM card and the online package to set my online banking. I had to ordered overnight to the bank address my ATM card and pay over 30 boss for that, that was the first time I meet Jeniffer Garcia (Please Sovering you need to reconsidering about keeping that lady in your bank)

After the first week of December (YES) I still was waiting for my online banking information, check, etc, in my mail. Up to that time I had 3 visit to this branch and talking, email, and voice messages to the same person (Jeniffer Garcia) whom instead of making a little bit effort to resolved the problem just show a dishonor gesture with her face while talking to me in person, forget about answering emails or returning voice messages.

I decided to try another branch as it seems that Broadway and 35th location doesn’t have any other personal that really helps clients. I tried the branch located at 1062 3rd avenue (because it is close to my apartment) Thanks god I meet Marc Dennis whom in less than 10 minutes resolved the problem that Jeniffer Garcia couldn’t resolved in more than a month. I won’t give details about what he did but whatever Marc did about service a client is what every bank should do with their customer.

Jeniffer I’ll recommend you go and observe just for 1 day how Marc do his job. It will help you to keep the clients in your branch. You are offering the worst customer services ever in all NYC business.

  37. The employees at Sovereign Bank are truly intent upon providing the best customer service possible. When I had a problem with a withdrawal from my account where the merchant never sent the merchandise ordered, Jason Shuey at the Washington Crossing branch immediately made a claim for the amount and within two weeks the money was back in my account. At all times he was pleasant and efficient and explained everything very clearly. I’m a very loyal Sovereign Bank client.

  38. Horrible horrible horrible!! The tellers are the rudest people alive. Basically if you’re not related to them, know them by name or suck up to them you will wait for hours and have them be unbelievable rude to you. I’ve been to a lot of Soveriegn banks over the years and the New Dorp lane branch is horrendous! Customer service is horrible! Not one person there knows what they’re doing. I waited in line for 30 minutes!!!! While one teller was helping someone and the other 2 were standing around talking to each other. I couldn’t believe it! Try to avoid that bank like the plague if you can.

  39. HORRIBLE!

Worst customer service EVER! Customer service rep was horrible and ignorant to my needs and banking in general. My kids have accounts there ONLY because it is the only atm at their school! I will NEVER do my business there!! Last time I was there I waited 15 minutes in drive thru with NO customers inside! My son got a student account, the rep NEVER ordered checks but said he did. When I told him to look it up and show me, he said “oh I never ordered them” duhhh no kidding…he did not feel a need to apologize. UGH HORRIBLE!

  40. I was ok with S.B. before because the Worcester, Ma locations are great! But Framingham, Ma union St so far is horrobal! The teller was texting while she withdraw my account and made a big mistake so i thought she stole my money or made a mistake! But at least S.B. fix the problem and return my money back! But next time make shure you keep your receipt for every transaction!

  41. First, I waited in line for nearly half an hour, when it was my time to step up to the window I was told I needed a withdrawal form to complete my transaction. I reached behind me to grab a form. When I turned around the clerk had stepped away from the window and was doing another task completely. He didn’t acknowledge my being at the window until he finished this “other” work. Please also take into consideration there are other customers coming into this branch with only one (1) other window in use. I have never had a clerk abandon his/her station with me waiting for service. I have no idea of who trained this person but he obviously needs to be re-trained and he should have his manners checked. My previous visits simply take too long. This branch never seems to have more than 2 windows open at a time and it appears to me that they are in no rush. Very poor service. Very poor attitudes.

  42. They really need to learn customer service, took 3 different trips for a simple name change, my debit card was never mailed to me with my new name so I have to call it and request it. Then they canceled my old debit card before the new one arrived and left me with NO DEBIT CARD right before family event on Friday. But I think the latest takes 1 st place- they mailed me my checking account statement in UNSEALED ENVELOP. So i called and spoke to customer service THEY DIDNT CARE!!!!!!!!!!!When emailing the local rep from the branch she didnt even bother responding.

  43. IMO the incompetence here is overwhelming.

Last fall it took them over 3 months to get me a debit card due to there own problems with updating my address in their files.

The latest issue is with a so called triple interest account. A branch member suggested I open this a couple years ago. Upon reviewing the paperwork it was discovered there was $5K max withdraw a month. This would not work for me so I withdrew all funds ASAP……………… A couple years later I was told this withdraw limit did not apply. I then asked if there were any other issues, fees etc. that I need to be aware of. IMO the only thing I was told was a $100 a month needed to be set up for an auto deposit to get the extra interest…………………….. With this new info in hand I put money in it. 3 days later I get WACKED with a maintenance fee……………….. A phone call drew the response of “I’ll talk to the manager”. A week passed and nothing was done. A letter drew a phone call but no explanation or fix was done..

I never had so many problems with all my other banks combined in over 45 years as I have had with Santander in 3 years.

Ironic in a way. I was considering transferring some major investments towards Santander. The few bucks that IMO they stole from me is nothing in comparison to what they could have had with the investment swing. Thank God I didn’t make this mistake!!!!

  44. I visited to cash a check drawn from a Santander Bank account. While waiting, I witnessed three in-lobby interactions, all of which were unsettling: An elderly lady almost in tears because her recent deposit of approx. $8,000 somehow was missing (teller seemed completely disinterested or incompetent in helping her); A person who came in and asked to use the restroom and was rudely told “NO”; Another woman who had questions and the employee kept repeating “I Don’t Know”. The teller that waited on me informed me there was a $6 fee for cashing the check. I responded “Are you serious?” She said “Yes, unless you want to open an account.” I told her “There’s no way I would open an account here- you’re not friendly or helpful.” The teller finished my transaction by only counting back my money; with not even a pleasantry, let alone asking me why I expressed a negative view of the bank. It seemed she was either completely apathetic, or that customer dissatisfaction was a routine thing.

  45. Have been visiting the Ipswich location for years now and have always been treated very personally, they really take the time to know you, the staff is great.. I really think everybody should give this branch a try, you may be pleasantly surprised !

  46. Santander is the WORST excuse for a bank I have seen. EVERYTIME I call them they cut me off. The have the atm shut down a lunchtime everyday. They are all extremely rude and careless. I went to the branch in Randolph yesterday at 2:00 and there was a CLOSED sign in the atm and bank. Don’t believe their claim that they will give you $20. in your saving each month, it is a big lie, you have to jump thru hoops to get that. I called today and they cannot find my deposit I made on 4/1 even though I have the slips right in front of me. I called again, they lost my deposit and stated they need to find it and call me back. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BANK !!!!!

  47. Apathetic, unfriendly, terrible customer service.

Dropped by the bank this afternoon to cash a small expense check as my company doesn’t process direct deposit for expenses, this is the only reason I’ve physically visited the bank over the past few years. I was the only person in line with three tellers behind the counter. One of them made eye contact but the three of them continued to chat about bank gossip for the next 1 to 2 minutes. I realize that doesn’t sound like a long time but when there is literally a single person waiting for service and three tellers, it’s completely unacceptable and disrespectful.

I was finally called up by a miserable woman named Sandra or something similar who didn’t acknowledge me with a smile, a hello, nothing. I handed over my check and ID and she began to process the transaction. The only interaction she was “forced” to have with me was “do you have an account here?” and she completed her work. She then handed me my cash and turned back to continue to gossip, no goodbye, no thank you, no nothing.

Seriously, get out of the customer service business completely if that’s how you approach your job. Unreal.

I’ll be working diligently to transition to a new bank as quickly as possible. Good luck to anyone that keeps this sh!tter of a bank in business.

    Wow.

  48. Ever since opening an account with this excuse of a bank we have received constant harassing phone calls and letters using slimy and sneaky techniques trying to sell us more of their products. No matter how many times we have asked to placed on a do not call list the calls keep coming and in fact the more we ask not to be called the more they call. Thick headed and stupid bank STAY AWAY at all costs

  49. I am about to file complaint against them through a lawyer.I am trying to contact Congressman office for that. they cost me money and time. I tried to contact the main office, but I found out that it is in England UK Bank and has very bad reputation everywhere, Try to check in google and you will see how deceptive and idiots they are. I don’t know why American Government leave them working like this.

  51. I have recently opened an account at this branch, and the experience could not have been better. All of my questions were patiently, thoroughly and professionally answered, and my accounts were set up in the most advantageous manner for my situation. I also signed-up for a safe deposit box there. They have many box sizes from which to choose and the number of boxes are plentiful. The location is easily accessible and the parking plentiful. I only wish their 800 telephone assistance number line were open 24/7. Every time I have contacted Santander on their 800# (for questions relating to my credit or ATM cards), I have been assisted by courteous and knowledgeable staff. I can find no fault with this branch or bank in general, other than the lack of 24/7 availability.

  52. I have been with Sovereign since 1996 through all their mergers and partnerships. It was a simple relationship. The managers and the tellers were super nice and I have liked working with them. Until 2013 when I opened a business banking and merchant account and have had to deal with their 800 service. HORRIBLE, RUDE, DISMISSIVE!!!!! First Bank dba Santander is HORRIBLE!!!! Never do business with them NASTY and RUDE. I moved my accounts to a Credit Union and will never go back.

  53. My company uses this bank, but changing to another very soon, thankfully. Copley Square branch incompetent; all the good people left. Assistant Manager demoted – also incompetent. One window open with a line down the hallway, while other staff chit chats in an adjacent office. Kenmore Square branch WORSE, if that’s possible. Park Square branch not much better. Rude employees, managers always on breaks or invisible, no customer service, no one ever calls back, requests thru both customer service at bank and phone non-responsive. THIS BANK IS HORRIBLE. Find yourself another unless you like to be aggravated. The portion of this review regarding length of service with this bank is representative to my company, not my personal account. I’ve been with my bank (Century Bank & Trust) for 20+ years – there’s a very good reason, unlike Santander’s pitiful performance (including when they were Sovereign).

  54. I thought that I will deal with a bank in developed country, but I found myself dealing with bank in under-develop country.

I cannot believe that there is a bank in USA in this horrible level, unprofessional, very slow in their reaction, don’t appreciate the value of client’s time. overall just pass by and don’t even think in looking to it. Be smart and BE AWAY!!

  55. It is poor simple bank!!. It worse to be unknown to many people. If you want professional people, good service and paying your bills on time, BE AWAY of this bank. They are very slow in paperwork, they always saying call you back but never call you back (Lies) dealing with them is wasting time and effort. they checked my credit three time in one month and dropped my score.

  56. The staff at the Hazard Avenue branch are the best…in fact, they are the reason why I have stayed with this bank through so many changes in ownership. Michele, in particular, has become a friend; she gives us wonderful, personalized service – always friendly and helpful.

  57. Mr. Patel at the Hoboken, NJ has been exceptional! I have also found Ms. Porter at the PATH branch to be very friendly as well.

Sanatander is a great bank! I love banking with them. People complain because they are strict. There is no way this bank is only a one star. It is clear that people that don’t know how to manage their money are the complainers. Look at yourself first! If every bank you go to is terrible, then you are the problem.

  58. the wayland branch is the best! hardly ever a line and the head teller and personal banker are always helpful and amazing, they treat me and my family like their own!

  59. im not a customer with SB but i went there before to cash a check they ask for 2 forms of ID! i really hate that

  60. There are no words in the entire dictionary to truly capture the disgust one is in for when they decide to do business with this bank.

The branch manager is never to be found – or worse, they don’t have one for months at a time – the business banker is incompetent in all forms of communication and skill, and the building is ready to crumble into bits. No one who works there knows what’s going on, they don’t even know who their coworkers are, and never take responsibility for their actions.

BEWARE of Sovereign, but ESPECIALLY BEWARE of their Huguenot Branch. It is DESPICABLE beyond belief.

  61. I went into this branch a month ago & spoke with the Br. Mgr about an unauthorized acct transfer for $50 ti an unknown acct. I was told it had to be investigated & I will be contacted. As to date, I still don’t know why my acct was charged & had to call back the branch only to be transferred to tellers who had no idea what the sitaution was about. The Br. Mgr. was & still is very unprofessional in letting this matter go unresolve for this long in this day & age of technology!!

  62. THEY MISSED PLACED A AUTO PAYMENT THAT I MADE IN CASH AND HAVE A RECEIPT FOR.IT HAS BEEN 1 MONTH AND SO FAR THEY CANNOT FIND WHERE THE MONEY WENT. COME ON GUYS GET IT TOGETHER……. STAY AWAY

  63. Worst customer service I’ve ever encountered at a bank and that’s saying something. Rather than try to address my problem (overdraft fees, with largest charge put through first, so a fee of $35 could be charged on smaller checks that would have been covered by existing balance), the Park Square branch manager told me, “If you’re not happy with our service, why don’t you just close your account?” Good question. Unfortunately, my wife and I have a three business and three personal accounts with the bank, so switching would be no simple matter for us. BTW, I gave the bank a one-star rating only because zero was not an option.

  64. Needed to pay my mortgage and like all times in Hamburg and also now in orwigsburg branch asked the teller to look up my acct number absolutely with a smile . Now I had my wife stop to pay it on the way to the hospital and the male behide the counter couldent look up the acct she is my wife now my wife almost broke down to tears because she was going to be late to take care of you grandma or pa which was the case thanks a lot you lost me as a personal acct and am very close to buying our 2 house and believe me I’m not even interested in your services not at all.

  65. ‘This customer is not the only disgruntled one. I have gone in to make my car payments to the Bridge Street branch in Windsor CT. Everytime I go in there there are two tellers and one may be busy and the other one will not acknowledge me. I have also been the only customer in the building and I wait to be acknowledged and patiently wait and do not get any customer service. It has gotten to the point where I will just simply walk up to the counter (if I am the only customer) drop off the payment announce what my purpose is and then simply just walk out of the building. It has been several months and they continue to give me “attitude” whenever I try to interact with them. I am deaf and may have difficulty speaking, however that should not be reason to receive this kind of treatment from ANY teller! If I could I would refinance my car with another bank, and this bank was chosen by the dealership and I was not informed or I would have requested a different bank from the beginning as I knew that the bank was not a friendly one.’

  66. The branch on Crossbay Blvd. in Howard Beach,N.Y. has the worst bank manager.

Although the wait is very long because the staff has been cut to the bone, the two employees remain very polite and efficient

The bank manager appears to be pleasant unless you choose to close your account. Then his demeanor changes to that of a spoiled child who becomes personally offended that you are leaving and acts out.

He also appears to be chauvinistic.

The manager makes solicitation calls on joint accounts to promote various investments but will only speak to the man of the house.

Won’t deal with a bank that allows this type of behavior.

  67. I have to say that I disagree with the last customer.I always go to the Rumford,RI location because of their customer service, and fast response I receive when experiences any issues. Jody is the absolute best customer service rep, at any bank, that I have ever dealt with. Hands down! ….All together I think banks in general take advantage of customers with all their sneaky little charges. If it weren’t for bills etc…that I had to pay for with a checking account, I would definitely just deal with cash.

  68. This is absolutely the worst branch in R.I.Every time I need to see a customer rep.I wait over 45 minutes. All of these reps ignore me while they are playing with their computer or socializing with each other.Because of this I’ve pulled my checking and savings out of this bank
